Do I need to turn off the pump filter system?
No, the pump-filter system must run continuously. Any existing UVC lamp should definitely be switched off or removed.
Why does BioTeiGa recommend turning off the UVC lamp permanently?
A UVC lamp clarifies the water – that's true. But it doesn't distinguish between harmful and beneficial microorganisms. It kills everything: algae cells, but also the single-celled organisms that maintain the biological balance of your pond.
These very microorganisms are the foundation of a healthy pond. They break down pollutants, compete with algae for nutrients, and keep the ecological system stable. If you operate the UVC lamp continuously, you destroy this system – and have to rebuild it from scratch again and again.
The result: clear water to the eye, but a microbiologically weakened pond that remains permanently dependent on technical assistance.
What’s the alternative?
