About 5 weeks ago, we repotted all our aquatic plants in Vitaton.
After a complete cleaning of our swimming pond, they had suffered greatly.
Many plants had brown leaves 3 weeks after the process and looked quite
sad. After repotting them in Vitaton, they recovered completely.
All of them have developed new shoots and are growing well.
However, we had issues with the clay balls that weren’t fully saturated yet:
During our son’s pool party, many balls surfaced due to the waves, and we had to collect them all again.
It’s better to either soak them for 4 weeks beforehand or place them in a net/
nylon stocking.
But the balls are very beneficial for the plants—I’ll only buy VitaTon from now on!

In natural waters there is always an enormous variety of different aquatic plants. However, the majority of these many aquatic plants are found in the lower water layers. These underwater plants extract the existing nutrients from the water and use them for their growth. At the same time, they produce valuable oxygen through photosynthesis, which is made available directly to the water and is therefore available to all aquatic life and biological processes.

A smaller group of aquatic plants only have their roots in the water. This means that although they absorb nutrients from the water, they do not add oxygen to the water, but instead release it into the atmosphere.

What this means for your pond: The more aquatic and underwater plants you have in your pond, the more nutrients these plants can extract from the pond water before the algae use these nutrients to grow. This means that fewer nutrients are available to the algae. It is important that the pond plants are not planted in pond soil. Pond soil and fertilizer contain a lot of plant nutrients such as phosphate and nitrate, which are intended to help plants grow. However, the plants cannot use these many nutrients as they need. The excess phosphates and nitrates are released into the pond water, thereby ensuring that the algae grows profusely. In addition, pond soil is heavier than water, which means that detached parts also greatly encourage the formation of nutrient-rich sludge on the pond floor.
